An International Fine Artist
It has been over 4 decades since I have completed my academic studies at California School of Performing and Visual Arts (SPVA).
My creative journey includes creative endeavor with many mediums like oil paint, watercolor, ceramic clay markers, pastels and many other means available on the market today.
Within the commercial art side of the industry I have nearly two decades of architectural, graphics, signage, and advertising designs experience with the well established mainstream organizations in USA and abroad.
In all my journey I consistently had a single objective in mind: What am I saying that is worth telling?
The intention of the presented here is not for congregation’s “like/dislike” or “approval” by any means; rather to reach the most repressed emotions within, to lay bare a veritable experience of Self-to-Self reflection, i.e., (love, fear, hate, wander, joy, envy, and etc.); and to question its inception, motive and the impact of them on our daily lives.
So, if my work enrage you, petrifies you or makes you abhor, what I have to say is: Well that is Fine Arts in its most uninhibited/untainted expression form, and I thank you for your retort.
I fervently hanker that I helped and augmented your inner boundaries to expose your “true” self to yourself.
Remember: If an idea could be recited eloquently it is poetry; if it is said reasonably it would be philosophy, if it can be expressed in neither forms, then it requires communicating visually.
At Honar Visual Arts we believe that art and design integration have the power to inspire and transform the society.
It helps people bring their creative inner visions to life.
With that said I use any medium necessary to explore and communicate my inner vision to the viewing audience.
My paintings usually starts with an inspired idea, often reflecting what is currently in my circumambient; being it political, environmental, social or emotional scenario.
The initial idea starts taking form in drawing and thumbnail sketches with graphite or charcoal. Then a color study with color pencil, watercolor or oil paint is rendered to select the color pallet suited for the project.
After meticulous evaluation of: A- subject matter, B- composition, C-color theory and selection it will project itself to the appropriate scale of substrate (canvas, board or watercolor paper) ,custom made for that specific painting.
Currently my main medium is oil paint on canvas; however at times I use cold wax, Ceramic paste, acrylic or any other material deemed appropriate for that specific expression.
Often I use box (gallery wrapped) canvas when the edges are part of the overall statement. At times, when needed I fabricate my own custom frames and matts.
I have always admired the expressionist art up to the Post Neo-Cubism period of early 20th century.
In my creative approach I consider the composition the central element of my paintings. Much of my work employs the Tonalism as the means of emotional expression.
Avoiding the confinement of “style recognition” allows me to create uninhibitedly and intuitively weather figurative, none-objective, or post neo-cubism style. I trust the honest application of creative expression can only be reached by breaking these industry/ market barriers between the artist and his/her audience.
Renaissance paintings with use of light such as Rembrandt has always intrigued me, while the sophistication of composition with shapes and forms in contemporary art has provided me with the awareness of strength of the art beyond the subject matter.
In most of my work I intentionally look pass the representational elements and treat the objects as merely shapes and forms. The subject matters plays second to the emotional and subliminal expression.
The objective is so that through the dynamic composition and creative color expression one could maintain the core values in content intended.
I consider myself a romantic and an emotional painter with global cultural influence. I purposely avoid representational elements of any specific ethnicity.
Through my work my primary objective is to reach and touch the viewer's naked internal emotions that are possibly repressed or undiscovered, even to themselves.
